Cogfort E44D - Cities of Sigmar Warpriests / Cogpriests
Description
Priests keep the connection to Sigmar and Azyr strong. Cogfort Electro-Priests strap giant electro-coils to their backs and connect Sigmar’s energy straight the machines that support the Cogfort. The reason there are so many priests in a Cogfort is because of the heavy reliance on the priests as conduits to Azyr and the need to spread them out across the fort.
Most Warpriests have a faithful gryphhound to protect and fight along side them. An electro priest requires something a bit different. Cogdillos which help ground the electricity, protecting the priests as they call down the power of the storm.
Build + Paint
One of the inspirations for this army was being able to use the Adeptus Mechanicus miniatures from Warhammer 40k in AoS. One of the weirder but cool models in that range were the Electropriests. They have two variations, the ones with staves, and ones with electric shock gloves. Given that the Warhammer Fantasy Battle Warpriests always carried melee bludgeoning weapons, the two-handed staves seemed best. The backpack energy sources had two variants as well and I preferred the orientation that was more snail like.
I can’t get the idea out of my head that mortals in the order alliance would most certainly deify or at least glorify the stormcast. In my first Cities of Sigmar army (War Altar, Flagellants, Warpriests, etc) I had a number of ‘iron masks’ in the shape of stormcast heads. Here too, the leader of these Warpriests is donning a helmet that has been fashioned after the stormcast heroes.
There’s a bit of an insect theme that’s sneaking into this army as well partially because of the Mechanicus aetsthetic. But it’s also a really effective form of locomotion that I hope to adopt throughout the army. There are some “Dark Mechanicus” models in the 40k Chaos range that could work, but it’d take some more conversion to de-spike them.
